What is editor-side ?

The editor side of Layer Magic refers to the code that runs inside the WordPress dashboard.

The editor is considered the main part of Layer Magic.

It is an application in itself, which is integrated as part of WordPress menu (the left-side, main menu).

It acts as a workshop for all the artwork you will create.

It has plentiful tools to help you build what you imagine.

Resource management

Layer Magic comes with its own resource management system, separate from the WordPress one. By resource, we consider both projects and assets.

You can control them inside the editor's interface. This also includes downloading and uploading new resources.

Server storage

Once Layer Magic is installed as a plugin to WordPress, all its files are stores on your server (the one on which WordPress is stored).

Code files are separated from the resource files (projects, assets). This allows you to change Layer Magic's version without losing your files.

Activating / deactivating / deleting the plugin will have no effect on your resource files.

Timeline and key-frames

One of key features of the editor, one of the most interesting and probably one of the hardest to understand, is the timeline.

Layer Magic visual effects are based on a tool similar to the one used for editing videos, frame by frame animation, which we call "timeline".

What is different from the traditional software tools is that Layer Magic uses multiple simultaneous timelines.

The order of the key-frames, their state and the priority of the timelines determine the resulting animation frame.

Once you get used to the workflow, it will come intuitively to you.
